19-Break the Power of Revenge

Scripture: “‘For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity, to give you a future and a hope.'” -Jeremiah 29:11

baghdad-sunset.jpgPrayer: Lord, You are the God of love and mercy. Your compassion is over all Your works. Your thoughts are perfect, and Your acts are righteous always. You are faithful and true. You do all things well, and You have never failed on any of Your promises.

Today, I bring before You those who perpetuate violence in Baghdad. I ask that You would condemn the revenge they have embraced, and flush it from their hearts. Lord, I reject the dominion of revenge over that city, because that city belongs to You.

Let Your judgments fall upon the spirit of revenge that has ruled in that place. May this be a new day for Baghdad — a day of forgiveness, cooperation, and peace. Shut the mouth of the accuser, and give the people a new found grace to release the past and move forward in hope. In Jesus name, amen.

I agree that the merciful intervention of God is our only hope in Baghdad. We know God uses all things and works them together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. May God pour out on us a Spirit of intercession, seeking His heart for Baghdad, and all of Iraq, and all the nations. Let Jesus be revealed to the people He created and loves and gave His life for.

Oh I thank you so very much for this prayer website. My brother is a Marine serving in Iraq right now and knowing that I am agreeing in prayer for these things with others is so comforting. We serve a mighty God and that has power to do all we ask or think. Thank you to all who are praying with me for those serving this country!

Thanks for the Baghdad Prayer Patrol. Our youngest daughter, Elise- Army Diesel Mechanic – is on her second deployment to Iraq for 1 1/2 years, this time near Baghdad.
I’ve been thinking recently, with the situation as it is in Baghdad, our only recourse right now is a concerted prayer effort.
I like to print out each day’s prayer page, but I’ve been getting a total of three pages. It would be great if I could get only the Prayer page in print.
I will be sending copies to Elise. At her rank, she does not have handy computer access and she probably wouldn’t visit the site anyway. But if Mom sends it to her in print, she just might take a look at it and know the prayers going up for the area, the soldiers, the people, etc. It is my prayer that the gospel would pour into the region and many would be saved.
