18-Unity Among the Troops and Police

“There was a period of time when coalition forces had to urge Iraqi forces to fight. That is not the case anymore. They are not only capable of fighting, but they want to fight for a sovereign Iraq.”
-Brig. Gen. Dana Pittard, commander, Iraqi Assistance Group, to reporters in Baghdad March 11.

Scripture: “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity!” -Psalm 133:1

Prayer: Lord, You count the stars and You know them all by name. You measure the waves of the sea and place boundaries on its shores. You know the hairs on my head and the thoughts and intentions of my heart. Nothing escapes Your notice, there is no one else like You.

soldier_police.jpgLord, I thank you for the brave men and women of the Iraqi police force and army. I ask for Your blessing of unity to be on them as they work along side the allied troops.

I focus on the military operations today in Baghdad, and I ask for your grace and favor to be with teams as they go out: help them to move together in unity, and to function as one cohesive unit. Knit them together, Lord, into a solid force for peace, and give them victory after victory today as they patrol the city. In Jesus name, amen.

this is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. You are working day by day in the lives of the people of Iraq and the military of the USA. Protect and give safety to those that are in harms way. Stop the evil ones in their tracks and make them bow their heads in shame and come to you for help in getting their lives straight before you. We thank you for your love and guidance and we commit this land of Iraq to you. May many stop in the midst of the turmoil and hear your voice calling them into a relationship with you. Be with the Chaplains as they minister spiritually to those they come in contact with and many many come to know you. Be with all the medical personnel, the Dr’s , the nurses etc and give them wisdom and strength to carry out their jobs daily. Help them to make good decisions in handling the many facets of treatment in difficult circumstances. Protect and guide and make your word heard . thank you for all you have done and are doing to end this war. Give peace and comfort to the grieving and lonely. In the name of Jesus I pray, AMEN

Judith Connell, Greenbank, On., Canada Says:

TV writers are fond of having their characters saying, ‘God is in the details’. I always love that because it is true it is just those details that will cement a cohesive Iraqi fighting force in Iraq but also the neighbourhoods where the fighting men live. People who have God on their mind make for the best soldiers because they always have a true sense of purpose which is passed onto their family members.

However, the Iraqi soldiers, interpreters, teachers, airforce pilots etc. really needs very good raises to have them see that money is not just being siphoned off for the Generals etc. While hope springs eternal, a solid lesson in economics is ALWAYS welcomed.

Bless You, Our Great Lord. We bow low before You for those in wartorn areas or threatening areas such as Darfur, Iran, Iraq, Kashmir and of course, Pakistan and Afghanistan. You know that we understand how lives are there and beg You not to let Your Loving Kindness be removed from these areas. A day without You is worthless. Please assistance all these people I have typed about receive the wonderful Holy Spirit to pass to their families. What a blessing!

    Lois Says:

Lord, my God and Savior, I come to you and ask that you would give our soldiers, police, and the Iraqi police and soldiers blessings and favor, and most of all LOVE for each other. I read in your Word that is written in 1 Cor. 13 about Love. You say: LOVE is patient and kind. LOVE does not demand its own way. LOVE never keeps records of when it has been wrong. LOVE never gives up, never loses faith, always hopeful, and endures through every curcumstance. LORD, GIVE UNTO OUR SOLDIERS AND THE IRAQIS THIS KIND OF LOVE THAT COMES ONLY FROM YOU.

FATHER, WHOSE LOVE ENDURES FOREVER, I give you also your Word in 1 Peter 3:8 that our men and the Iraqis should be of “ONE MIND, full of sympathy toward each othr, loving one another with tender hearts and humble minds”. I pray that your word here would COME ALIVE in Iraq toward their own people and towards us, standing beside them and fighting this fight against the enemy. Lord, I thank you for bringing UNITY between our men and the Iraqis, allow them to be knitted together in ONE SOLID FORCE FOR PEACE, AND MAY THEY BE GIVEN VICTORY AND VICTORY AGAIN as they patrol the city of Baghdad. In the Holy name of JESUS I pray and give thanks that it is done, and ALL the glory is yours, for you are worthy. Amen

Father, we don’t forget what our fighting men and women are doing for us – there are so many silly and inconsequential things out there: fashion, i-phones, dumb movies and TV programs, certain types of music, the latest “must-have” gadgets – help us to see above these things to the things that really matter. Amen

As the allied forces work with the Iraqi army & police, may You instill in them a sense of caring & responsibility for their people. That they are the care takers of freedom & justice in their country. Help them to forgive their enemies & give them a heart of flesh. Guide the US & allied forces to not only teach weapons skills & tactics of fighting the enemy – but to teach self-sacrifice & a willingness to go above & beyond the call of duty. Protect all their families from harm – give them courage & strenth & draw them to Yourself. carole Says:

Lord God, even the secular news media is taking notice of your power in Baghdad and surrounding areas. Last night one of the national reporters proclaimed, “The news from Iraq tonight is… there is NO NEWS!” No bombings, nothing newsworthy in the war. But we know the real news – YOU are at work. You are hearing the prayers of your people, and your power is being revealed. May you be honored, Lord, and may all the troops – Iraqi and all of the Coalition forces – recognize that it is not of themselves that this is happening, but a power – THE Power – that controls the universe. We pray for continuance of this trend, Lord, that the world may know the Sovereign God and that peace will prevail.
