18-Unity Among the Troops and Police

“There was a period of time when coalition forces had to urge Iraqi forces to fight. That is not the case anymore. They are not only capable of fighting, but they want to fight for a sovereign Iraq.”
-Brig. Gen. Dana Pittard, commander, Iraqi Assistance Group, to reporters in Baghdad March 11.

Scripture: “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity!” -Psalm 133:1

Prayer: Lord, You count the stars and You know them all by name. You measure the waves of the sea and place boundaries on its shores. You know the hairs on my head and the thoughts and intentions of my heart. Nothing escapes Your notice, there is no one else like You.

soldier_police.jpgLord, I thank you for the brave men and women of the Iraqi police force and army. I ask for Your blessing of unity to be on them as they work along side the allied troops.

I focus on the military operations today in Baghdad, and I ask for your grace and favor to be with teams as they go out: help them to move together in unity, and to function as one cohesive unit. Knit them together, Lord, into a solid force for peace, and give them victory after victory today as they patrol the city. In Jesus name, amen.

    Jean Says:

Dear Father in Heaven, please help Your people to know that we really need to pray for those in Iraq who are attempting to bring peace and stability to that nation. Thank You so much for the brave and dedicated ones who have volunteered for the police and military of that nation even though they have been targeted for slaughter by those who hate peace. Last night I was so grieved to hear of the suicide bomber attack on police forces and recruits in Iraq that had killed 42 people, at the last count I heard on the BBC. Dear Father in Heaven, that is just proof that Iraq is still plagued with some who love violence and hate peace. Would You be so kind as to intervene? Please help the many who are now traumatized by this most recent event, and all who are grieving. Please help those who love peace in Iraq to take courage and to rise up against such evil. May none of those who perished have died in vain, Dear Father, but may even this work for good. Because of this slaughter and this sacrifice, may there be a stronger resolve among the people to root out the terrorist and to work together to stabilize that nation. Thank You, Gracious Lord, for You are kind and wonderful to hear and to answer our prayers. Please prove Yourself to the unbelieving in Iraq today. In Jesus’ Mighty, Awesome and Pure Name. Amen.

En el nombre de Jesús, Amén.

Thank You that unity is Your idea and that You work in Your people to will and to do of Your good pleasure in regard to unity. Thank You that You are moving on behalf of the people, leaders, police and soldiers to bring about what is needed in their midst – unity.

    Jean Says:

May praises abound to You, Lord God Most High! Again I thank You, Dear Lord, for the members of the Iraqi police and military who signed up for duty even while there were those who were bombing recruiting offices and threatening to kill any who joined the forces. I believe this indicates a good motive for wanting to serve and a powerful desire to make a difference in their nation. May this work out to bring about justice and peace for Iraq, Dear Lord. May these police and military personnel be found to carry out their duties with justice and fairness and effectiveness for all the citizens of Iraq. May they have the support of the governing and legislative authorities to do so. May they be effective, Dear Lord, and may they have extraordinary wisdom in every difficult situation. May lasting peace come soon to Iraq. In Jesus’ True and Faithful Name. Amen.

    Dottie Says:

Dear Father I pray that the Iraqi forces and our forces might work together as brothers and strive to bring peace to Iraq. Much has been done and many good things are happening. But through it all there have been those who continue to disrupt the peace. Soften their hearts and minds and fill them with Your Spirit so that they will stop the senseless crimes against their own people. Little children are looseing their lives because of the heartless crimes committed. Turn this country around and bring peace I pray in Jesus name. Amen
