18-Unity Among the Troops and Police

“There was a period of time when coalition forces had to urge Iraqi forces to fight. That is not the case anymore. They are not only capable of fighting, but they want to fight for a sovereign Iraq.”
-Brig. Gen. Dana Pittard, commander, Iraqi Assistance Group, to reporters in Baghdad March 11.

Scripture: “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity!” -Psalm 133:1

Prayer: Lord, You count the stars and You know them all by name. You measure the waves of the sea and place boundaries on its shores. You know the hairs on my head and the thoughts and intentions of my heart. Nothing escapes Your notice, there is no one else like You.

soldier_police.jpgLord, I thank you for the brave men and women of the Iraqi police force and army. I ask for Your blessing of unity to be on them as they work along side the allied troops.

I focus on the military operations today in Baghdad, and I ask for your grace and favor to be with teams as they go out: help them to move together in unity, and to function as one cohesive unit. Knit them together, Lord, into a solid force for peace, and give them victory after victory today as they patrol the city. In Jesus name, amen.

Dear Father in Heaven, I praise and thank You, because You are very able to do the things requested in these prayers. I will watch to see how You will bring about Your peace and healing for Iraq, Dear Lord. May these people indeed find true freedom and deep fulfillment in knowing and serving You. May genuine peace soon become the situation for Iraq. Thank You for the police and Iraqi military whose members signed up during the early days of the war even while harrassed and targeted with threats and bombings. Something caused them to enlist even while under that kind of threat, and I would think it might have been for the hope of seeing a better day for Iraq. May You be pleased to honor their courage and their willingness to sacrifice their own safety for the good of a larger number of people. May none of their efforts be in vain. May Your good purposes be established for Iraq. In Jesus’ Holy and True Name. Amen.

    Barbara Cannon Says:

Father, as I sit and read these posted prayers, I joyfully find agreement in the Body. Thank You for this prayer patrol, rest upon the shoulders of all who take part in its existence. How my spirit is lifted by the thoughts expressed by Your Spirit in each prayer. About all I can add today is YES, and AMEN! Hallelujah! While the officers in Iraq are learning and practicing the skills and strategies needed to maintain peace in their land, I pray that a witness of the Lord Jesus would be presented and absorbed so that the physical is supported and maintained by the spiritual. Turn Your Spirit loose in that land, Father-God and REALLY set these people free. Impart such a display of Your mercy and grace, strength and power that even our own come home with a sure conviction that You are GOD and YOU ARE ABLE to KEEP ALL that we’ve committed unto You against that final day of judgment. Glory and honor are Yours, O Lord, and we gladly rejoice as we praise You and enter into Your sanctuary to worship You. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

  17. 672
    M Tebault Says:

Father, you alone look past outward appearances to the heart of man. You understand the thoughts of the Iraqi people, and of our soldiers. I pray for our soldiers to walk uprightly in the land. May their yes be yes and their no be no. Grant them wisdom to comprehend truth from falsehood. Give them discernment to know how to reliably transfer information to the Iraqi troops – giving them the ability to police the land themselves. Protect our troops from the enemies lies and deceptions. Bring about your purposes for Iraq, Lord. Thank you that nothing can thwart your plans. Help our troops to line up with your heart. Only you can bring the unity we desire to see for Iraq. It happens two people at a time. Let us not despise small beginnings, but pray that they would multiply until the land is filled with people seeking peace.

  18. 671
    Judy Says:

Lord…only true God..the news out of Iraq claims that Sunnis who were “once Allies of the U.S. are drifting back to Al Qaeda” as the political situation remains unresolved. Oh, Father, I pray that Your mighty hand is moving on the hearts and minds of those who are pondering their decision on who to follow. Jesus, come to them and reveal Yourself as the The Way. Help them to see the folly of such a decision. Honor the blood that was shed and the broken and injured bodies and minds that went toward freeing Iraq. Cause them to turn away from Al Qaeda and back to the pursuit of freedom for all of Iraq. Jesus, I plead this in Your Name. Amen

  19. 670
    Betsy P. Says:

I love You, Lord! We who pray here love You with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strength. We love our neighbors as ourselves. Because of this love that is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, we come asking for the troops and the police in Baghdad, Dawrah, and all over Iraq.
You alone are God, and You have broken down the middle wall of partition between us. Break down walls that are interfering with unity among the peace enforcers in Iraq. Bind them together with cords of love that cannot be broken. Make them brothers in Christ Jesus through revelation of Who our SAvior is…Jesus the King of kings, amen.

  20. 669

    Peggy Says:

Father, We pray you would empower the armies of the people of the middle east to defend their own citizens from the demonic power of evil presently over them.

We ask for increased bravery, and loyalty to do the job necessary to take control. Protect them as they go on the side of right and grant them victory.

When you are on our side, we win, so I am asking you to be with these local forces to grant them the victory to bring peace to their land. AMEN

  22. 667

Dear Father I pray that the men and women of Iraq will now take the reigns and protect their people from the enemy within. Help our troops to transfer the responsibility to these who desire to have a peaceful existance. Protect them as they do take over as our men and women leave. Keep Iraq strong in doing the right things for their people. Bless the leaders and give them wisdom. It is good when brothers and sisters live together in love and harmony. I pray for this for Iraq in Jesus name. Amen

    Peggy Says:

Father, I come together with every one who is praying for Baghdad this day and I join in that prayer that there be unity with the forces working to secure peace in Baghdad.

May they move together in strength. Replicate the strengths of those experienced warriors in the new found police force in Baghdad.

Lord, as they go out about their patrols today, increase their wisdom, power and insight against the evil forces. Deliver the enemy into their hands. Give them victory this day, I pray.
Protect them from harm and let the innocent ones suffer no casualties this day, nor any who go in your spirit of defending the innocent.

Thank you GOD and Father for all your blessings. You are a righteous GOD who loves his people. We bow before your throne and we exhault you this day and forever. YOU ALONE ARE GOD, ALMIGHTY, ALL KNOWING AND PRESENT EVERYWHERE. We bless your holy name. We honor you with our lips, our songs our walks our lives. Our help comes from YOU alone.
