18-Unity Among the Troops and Police

“There was a period of time when coalition forces had to urge Iraqi forces to fight. That is not the case anymore. They are not only capable of fighting, but they want to fight for a sovereign Iraq.”
-Brig. Gen. Dana Pittard, commander, Iraqi Assistance Group, to reporters in Baghdad March 11.

Scripture: “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity!” -Psalm 133:1

Prayer: Lord, You count the stars and You know them all by name. You measure the waves of the sea and place boundaries on its shores. You know the hairs on my head and the thoughts and intentions of my heart. Nothing escapes Your notice, there is no one else like You.

soldier_police.jpgLord, I thank you for the brave men and women of the Iraqi police force and army. I ask for Your blessing of unity to be on them as they work along side the allied troops.

I focus on the military operations today in Baghdad, and I ask for your grace and favor to be with teams as they go out: help them to move together in unity, and to function as one cohesive unit. Knit them together, Lord, into a solid force for peace, and give them victory after victory today as they patrol the city. In Jesus name, amen.

And even now, walking by faith and not by sight, we are kept in Your perfect peace as we choose to trust in You, lean on You, and give all our worries to You, through the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

Father, thank You. Thank You for working all things together for the good of those who love You and are the called according to Your purpose.

Father God, please grant Your servants in Iraq to be peacemakers and reconcilers today, by the power of Your Spirit at work in them and through them, in Jesus’ mighty Name. Pour out a blessing of humility and harmony on the Iraqi’s and on the Americans and on every other nation represented in Baghdad. For You are near to the humble, and we know it is Your desire to be near to every soul, that every soul may know Your love and truth, through Christ. “The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Lord, help us not to grow weary in praying for Baghdad and the situation in that region. As the news headlines pay less and less attention to the war there, and the number of casualties and deaths decline, help us to remember there are still strong feelings (as evidenced by the shoe-throwing) and it is still a volatile situation, waiting for a weak moment to flare up. We give you the praise for the improvement. We must continue to cover this area in prayer. Yes, pray for the U. S. military and the Iraqi military and police to be cooperative in doing their part to bring peace to Baghdad. And, Lord, we pray for our enemies, for those who hate us, that they will one day realize the Truth. Thank you, Lord!

Loving Heavenly Father, I want to bless and praise You today for the good works You have already done in helping the troops and police to work together for real help and hope to Iraq. Also, thank You again for the sacrificial service, especially of those troops and police who knew they were threatened with harm by those who have wanted to control Iraq in their own ways for their own purposes. May peace and healing be restored more and more to that nation, with stability. May the day come soon that the nation is able to be free from war and able to dedicate its armed personnel only to the maintenance of order in society. And may those who have served well and faithfully during the course of this war be deeply at peace within themselves knowing they can look back on a job well done. In Jesus’ Precious and Holy Name. We know that true freedom comes when people know Christ and that is our prayer today for the people of Iraq. We also ask for your touch and mercy for our troops and military leaders. They are in harm’s way every day and we entrust them to you for protection. We pray for our leaders in America to use wise judgment and discretion when it comes to the war in Iraq. Joan Gintella Says:

Lord, we lift up the brave men and women in Iraq who are in the military and police force. I realize it is very difficult to do that over there in such a hostile environment. Knowing that each day they go to work it could be their last because of the terrorists who do not want peace. And the terrorists are targeting the civilians for death to frighten them and force them to stop helping Americans. We ask you to put your warring angels around each of them for this entire day and night and protect them from all danger and all harm and also ut your warring angels around our soldiers and allies for this entire day and night. In Jesus name, Amen and Amen

    Janice from Georgia Says:

    Heavenly Father,

You have brought the stability and peace that is known in Baghdad and Iraq today. Thank You for Your hand of protection that has held things together for good in the city and outward. I pray for Your continued assistance in granting a feeling of brotherhood to the troops and police. May they work in unity as if they are of the same family looking out for each other’s good. If the troops have expertise in some areas that the police are lacking I pray that the troops will be able to train the police expediently. Please let them circle the wagons if there are any threats from enemy forces. And Lord I pray for ways for those troops who are Christian to be able to share their faith and become brothers and sisters in Christ with those who are on their team. Unity gives great strength and there is no stronger strength for mankind than to be unified in Christ. Lord, You can make a way for that to happen in the land for which we pray and hopefully worldwide. You are such an awesome God and always we come offering our hearts as reservoirs for Your Holy Spirit. Please forgive us of any accumulated sins that would be a block to keep You from hearing our prayers and fill us again each day with Your Holy Spirit who will help us as we pray. Through Jesus, Amen
