18-Unity Among the Troops and Police

“There was a period of time when coalition forces had to urge Iraqi forces to fight. That is not the case anymore. They are not only capable of fighting, but they want to fight for a sovereign Iraq.”
-Brig. Gen. Dana Pittard, commander, Iraqi Assistance Group, to reporters in Baghdad March 11.

Scripture: “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity!” -Psalm 133:1

Prayer: Lord, You count the stars and You know them all by name. You measure the waves of the sea and place boundaries on its shores. You know the hairs on my head and the thoughts and intentions of my heart. Nothing escapes Your notice, there is no one else like You.

soldier_police.jpgLord, I thank you for the brave men and women of the Iraqi police force and army. I ask for Your blessing of unity to be on them as they work along side the allied troops.

I focus on the military operations today in Baghdad, and I ask for your grace and favor to be with teams as they go out: help them to move together in unity, and to function as one cohesive unit. Knit them together, Lord, into a solid force for peace, and give them victory after victory today as they patrol the city. In Jesus name, amen.

    Heather Says:

    Sovereign, Loving, Almighty Father:

Blessed is Your Name! We thank You for Your faithful presence in this world, even in places of danger and uncertainty. It is Your love for people everywhere that brought Your Son to this earth that His sacrifice would speak to any who will listen. Knowing this to be true, may Your Holy Spirit speak to both our military men and women overseas, as well as the local/native police & soldiers who work with them to bring peace to a nation divided by war. As they seek to bring about visible/physical peace, speak to their hearts about the True Source of Peace – Your Son. May they learn to seek the One who brings not only unity, protection and peace to physical bodies but to the spirits of men and women wherever they are and whatever they have done. May the blessings of peace be upon Iraq and Afghanistan in accordance with God’s will.

    Faye Says:

Father God, I praise Your Holy Name. I ask that You will protect our military as they do their jobs today and also the Iraqi police officers. I pray that the wicked ones will retreat in fear. Give our military commanders wisdom and discernment in their decisions as they guide our men and women in combat.
In Jesus’ Precious and Holy Name. Amen

    Luanne Says:

Lord, we ask that you would remove any spirit of discord, dissension, & disunity that would come against our Allied troops and the Iraqi police. We pray that the goal of a secure Iraqi government that would be able to rule over themselves would be brought about speedily. Lord, we ask that any removal of our troops or turnover of security would not appear as weakness or surrender to the enemy. We ask that no place be given to the devil to come into this peace process. We ask that you would hedge in the peace making process, we ask that you would hedge in and strengthen the Iraqi Police — ‘not by might, not by power, but by your spirit’ says the Lord. Strengthen up this people and give them a resolve to come against terror, fear, and premature death. If there is any person who has infiltrated the Iraqi Police or the our troops that will cause a reversal to the peace process, we ask that you would change their hearts or remove them, in Jesus name we pray. If there is any weapon formed against a secure Iraq, we ask that it would backfire and work against the enemy. Protect each and every soldier, encourage and strengthen them.

Lord, I also ask that you would remind the soldiers that it is Easter this Sunday. I know in day to day routine they loose track of the seasons and times. May your resurrection power be made known unto each and every one serving in Baghdad and all of Iraq. May they know how deep and how broad and how high your love is for them. Loose the spirit of adoption on our troops that they may cry ‘Abba, Father’. We ask that you send forth your spirit today. May your name be given honor and glory. In Jesus name, Amen.

Father-God, you are such an awesome God. You are so economical for you bless the pray-ers as well as the targets of those prayers which are spoken in humbled adoration. Use these prayers, Father-God, in the hearts of all who read them. Bring the focus of individuals in need to exactly the prayer that will lift their heads and bless their hearts. Thank You for the UNITY of those praying. It strikes me more deeply this morning that it is truly significant for a nation united, to pray for another nation of disunity. THANK YOU that You have impressed upon me today that there are those in Iraq who are called by the NAME of the TRUE JESUS who must be praying for us as they yearn for peace and joy in their land. BLESS those believers, O God, as their intercessory anthems rise in agreement with prayers inspired by Your heart through Your people in every land. Yes, O YES, dear Lord, be that Companion that holy troops need in every step, every breath, of their every day. Continue to work UNITY between troops and civil servants of the land. Let the enemies of scorn, ridicule, scoffing, and absolute antagonistic hatred BITE THE DUST, in effect, Lord and let YOUR GLORY SHINE…. among the troops themselves, and certainly before the troops, police, and citizens of this foreign-to-us-soil. Bless our troops with sanity, bless them, as they return to us, with faded memories and let them REST from the reel-to-reel pictures that Satan would implant in their minds to keep them actively disturbed. IF you can move mountains, and I’ve seen You do that, then You can move the MOUNTAIN of uholy remembrance from these faithful soldiers who shall all eventually be able to put these days behind them. With David, WE TRUST YOU, O GOD, and we lay ourselves in Your Presence as we cling to the hem of Your holy garment through prayer! We love you. We KNOW You love us and that lifts us above what our eyes see of discontent and disillusionment in this wicked worldly scheme of things. Thank You for Your assurance of working “all things,” especially NOW in these troubled times, for the eternal GOOD of all mankind, both here and abroad. In JESUS’ name, I pray, Hallelujah and AMEN!

    Sharon W. Says:

Heavenly Father, Lord, God Almighty. We are asking for a miracle in Iraq today. Those who are being led by Satan are setting traps and lying in wait for the soldiers and police. We cry out to you for an end to this war. We cry out to you for mercy for the people of Iraq who are held in bondage. Break in pieces the lies, cruelty and sadistic bondage of Satan who holds them in bondage. We say no, no to the enemy who wants to kill and destroy and we say yes, yes to the spirit of the living God who comes to give life. Amen.

    Kathleen Says:

    Dearest Father,
Soon your only begotten Son will be remembered by all faithfilled Christians for what He did for us. Please dearest Almighty and Loving Father, help all our troops show the love they have learned from their Christian Faith. May we all experience the joy of a peaceful Iraq and particularly in the areas where the enemy has been in hiding. Sear the hearts of the evil doers with the conviction that their hatefilled actions are not of You, but of the Father of Lies. Dearest Mother of God, Mary most holy, help your children honor the actions and memory of your son, Jesus Christ. Amen

    M.Thompson Says:

    Dear G-d the Father:
Please in Jesus’ Name we implore you to send Your Holy Spirit to brood over Iraq today and angels to move unawares among ALL the Soldiers.

Where there is strife please bring peace, where there is division bring unity, where there is hatred bring the relief of a cool breeze and let hatred be rooted out of hearts today by acts of kindness.

Please cause Your Heavenly Light to penetrate Iraq today. Let Your light so dispell the darkness and shine ever brighter as the battle rages on.

The deeds of darkness get exposed in the Light and are disrupted; the dangerous equipment which lies lurking in darkness gets exposed before it’s deadly damage. And also, Your light warms us and fills us with truth.

So Jesus, please bring Lots of Light, Love and Laughter. That will be rest from the day’s labors. Bring Jesus to our hearts for His yolk is also LIGHT! In Jesus Name thank you SO MUCH for another day. Amen

    Laura Says:

Almighty God – Creator and Father
We entrust the people serving in the Iraqi police and army – Father for most of them it is an uphill battle to be a part of those units in their country where there is such discord. Father we ask that You protect and watch over them as well as the other troops that are serving. Father it has been a long drawn out process coupled with the fact that the Iraqi government cannot get along with each other – so we pray for that as well
Father we know that all things come together in Your time and place and wait upon You for the answers.
    In Jesus Name we pray

LORD, we pray you will provide our soldiers who are Christian to take opportunities You give them to share their beliefs with the Iraqi soldiers. May the Holy Spirit provide the words for them to say and may the heart of the Iraqi soldier be open to receive the Word. This is not only a physical battle but a spiritual one also. May the families who have lost loved ones receive your comfort and peace. I pray especially for the children. Hug them Jesus and bring them a special vision made especially for them. Thank you Lord.

    Sharon Says:

    Dear Heavenly Father,

I thank You, Father, for all that You do. I thank You that You give skill, wisdom, and knowledge to those who walk uprightly and in integrity. I thank You that they are discreet and that they have understanding about how to do the things they need to do. I also thank You that You said that these attributes would deliver them from the way of evil and evil men; from those men who lie, and speak perverse things; men who walk in darkness, who rejoice when things go wrong, and who are glad when evil triumphs. You have promised to protect men of integrity from those who are bent on destruction. You have said the righteous will dwell in the land but the wicked would be cut off from the earth and rooted out of it. I thank You for all the troops (US, Allied, and Iraqi troops)working together for the same righteous cause. I thank You that they are in unity and that they help each other. I thank You that they have the same vision – freedom, peace, and justice.

Father God, I pray for all those who are deceived. I pray that the light of Your gospel would shine in their lives; that the blinders would be lifted from their eyes; that they would have great revelation of truth and be saved. However, Father, I also pray that those who knowingly embrace evil and have contracted with the enemy – that their plans and everything they do would fail and not succeed. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen.

    Alice Carrel Says:

Father God, I thank You for KEEPING YOUR GUIDING HAND over Iraq and the Military. Thank You Lord for the way You have tought them how to unite together. Thank You for EVERY BLESSING YOU HAVE BESTOWED UPON IRAQ AND BAGHDAD. Thank You God for Your MERCIES AND YOUE GRACE YOU HAVE SHOWN TO YOUR LOVED ONES IN IRAQ AND BAGHDAD. I truly agree with the opening prayer and THANK YOU FOR BEING SUCH AN AWESOME GOD. I lift up these PRAYERS of THANKSGIVING TO YOU IN THE NAME OF YOUR SON AND OUR LORD AND SAVIOR CHRIST JESUS….Amen

    Jean Says:

Dear Father in Heaven, I thank You for the way in which Iraqi forces and police have gained courage and stepped out to work with the troops for the good of their nation. In many cases this has been with the knowledge that they could become the chosen targets of those who are resisting peace. I pray that You will increase their willingness more and more and that many more will be trained and equipped to stand up for the safety of the citizens of Iraq and will be willing to work hard and to press on until stability and peace have been fully established. I pray that every effort toward that purpose will be blessed today. Please give keen insight and great wisdom to their commanders and the strategists who are leading that effort.

Dear Father, I cannot help but turn my thoughts to Afghanistan today as well, to the citizens who are struggling today with the aftermath of two suicide bombers. I pray for peace and stability to be restored and for the troops there to be able to secure the safety of the citizens. I pray for comfort for the traumatized and those who have lost family members and are shocked and grieving. I pray that this will not work out to the enemy’s advantage, but will cause many among the citizens to desire to take up the cause of promoting peace and healing in their land. I pray that You will confound and confuse the counsel of those who would instigate such acts of terror and protect the foolish and naive from being lured in as recruits to carry out such evil deeds. May safety and healing increase more and more in that troubled land. In Jesus’ Precious Name. Amen.

    Faye Says:

Father God, it is good when brothers work in unity. The military realizing that helps them to work side by side with the Iraqis. I pray that You will give them all wisdom and discernment in the decisions that they make. I ask that You will keep them safe. In Jesus’ Precious and Holy Name.

  22. 242
    Gail Says:

According to Breaking Christian News, mentally handicapped women are being used as suicide bombers and they do not realize what they are doing. This is a new twist and requires targetted prayer, for they are among the innocents.

    Kathleen Says:

Jesus, Be with our troops as they teach the people of Dawrah. May your loving heart reach out and touch the Muslim people with the truth of how much you love them and died for them. May our troops by their conduct, help to bring about a change of heart in all the world, about what democracy can be for the people of Dawrah and all of Iraq!
May the angels of God, protect our beloved troops and put an end to the violence in the region.Amen

    Sandy Flynn Says:

Lord I come to You with Your Word which says,
“Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, haviing the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.”
I pray for unity among the military. My devotion today was just as ants can’t prosper on their own, neither can we as believers. As ants need each other, so do Your children. I pray for the believers who are envolved with bringing unity within each other. I pray for each unit that they accomplish the task that needs to be done, working together as a team. I ask Father, you be in the Midst of each person. Protect them, bring them peace and protection.

    Thank You Jesus,

    Amanda Says:

Father thank you for every man and woman in Iraq that longs for peace. Give them courage to stand against those who would promote war. Teach them how to be united with our soldiers as they train them in protecting themselves.

Father I pray for strength for our soldiers as they fight against their enemy but gentleness in training these people. Teach them how to reach these people’s hearts and minds in Jesus name.
