8-Favor for the Police and the Troops

Scripture: “And let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us…” -Psalm 90:17

Prayer: Father, we thank You that You are a God who hears and a God who cares. You hung all the stars in the sky and not one of them is missing. You know when we sit down and when we stand up, and nothing escapes Your notice.

soldier-helps-child.jpgJesus, we ask for Your help in granting our soldiers favor with the Iraqi people. Where there have been offenses, we ask for things to be repaired, and for trust to be restored and even increased. We ask that good deeds would not go unnoticed, and that those who are the recipients will tell many others the story of the goodness that was shown to them.

Lord, let the bonds of trust and partnership increase through favor with the Iraqi people. We ask for an atmosphere of goodwill to come down and favor that promotes partnership for a free Iraq. We ask for Your divine help, in Jesus name. Amen.

Loving Heavenly Father, please give supernatural grace and wisdom to the troops today and they interact with the people of Iraq. There is a huge cultural difference, Dear Lord, so it is easy for misunderstandings to confuse good intentions. Please help the troops to realize this, and to remember that they are more or less “guests” in a foreign land. May they be able to conduct themselves in such a way as to dispell and notion that they have come to occupy and to subdue, and may they win favor by means of thoughtful and courteous acts that are taken at face value and understood in the manner intended. May this also come to be in Afghanistan where Nato troops are working so hard to win the confidence of the citizens of that nation and to help bring about lasting solutions to the problems of war, terror and oppresion. May the efforts to do good in either nation be recognized and understood in order to bring a good result. In Jesus’ Precious and Holy Name. Amen.

Dear Loving Heavenly Father, please bless all who serve in a nation not their own in order to bring help and support to the citizens of that land. May they find Your empowering favor to meet their needs, often in very difficult situations, so that they might have something left to help them show grace and favor to those they encounter. I pray there will be times of needed rest, and means of recovery after times of working, and especially for means to find emotional healing after they might have witnessed traumatic occurrences. I pray also for the police in Iraq, many of who very bravely took up the cause for their nation knowning full well that their lives might be threatened by evil just for attending recruitment centres. May they find Your strength and favor as they seek to establish law and order in their own nation. Please guide their steps, give them great wisdom and discernment to know how to respond appropriately to every challenge they encounter, and all the strength they need to press on to the goal of establishing safety for the citizens of Iraq. Thank You so much for Your mercies in enabling a reduction of trouble and conflict in Iraq. May peace and stability soon be fully established. In Jesus’ Precious and Holy Name. Amen.

I pray Lord that You would show Your favor on all the police and troops by bringing them closer to You today. Let their hearts feel alive with Jesus.
