10-Protection for the Troops and Police

Scripture: “Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the LORD delivers him in times of trouble. The LORD will protect him and preserve his life; he will bless him in the land and not surrender him to the desire of his foes.” -Psalm 41:1-2 (NIV)

Prayer: God of power and might, there is no one who can challenge Your power or authority. You are the King of all creation.

I bring before You the troops and police serving in Baghdad today. They are there to protect the weak and the helpless. According to Your word, I call forth the protection they need today.

Deliver them from death and let the plans of those who hate peace fail, and their bullets fall to the ground. Most High God, we ask for You to defend those who defend the weak — surround them with Your favor as a shield. May Your angels guard them and lead them out of the snares of the wicked.

Father, as the troops prepare for the night watch, be their eyes and ears. May they see and hear anything that is not right, and may they comprehend what it represents so they can take defensive action. Protect them, Lord. And be with those who sleep, that they might be renewed physically. Speak through visions and dreams so that they will be renewed spiritually. Be with the chaplains and speak through them to the hearts of the troops tomorrow. Protect those who defend the defenseless. Enable them to walk in humility and bind their hearts to the hearts of those they serve.

    Betsy P. Says:

Oh Father, Your Words in Psalm 41 are true of the soldiers and police in Baghdad who are defending the powerless. Apply every promise in these words to them and to their families. We surrender our lives totally, as much as we know how, to You and Your will and ways today. Stifle every flame of vengeance that would blaze up into destruction. Squelch the wrath of man in Sadr City. Hold sway over every heart. Flood all the people of Baghdad with Your love, and do not let them resist You. I ask all this in the name of Your Humble, Merciful, Powerful Son, Jesus, name above all other names, amen.

Thank you, Lord, that you have regard for the weak. Be their sure defender today. Rescue them from oppression. Preserve them from the wicked plans of the enemy. Speak to their hearts, Father, of the love you have for them. Reveal your son Jesus so they might believe. Help them quickly grow to maturity by planting them in fully developed fellowships. Feed them with your Word. May they be doers of the word – forgiving, sharing, caring for their own and reaching out to others.

Dear Lord: This dear US Soldier is trying to survive every minute of the day. I wonder how he sleeps at night. I wonder if his food is nutritious and adequate. I wonder how he manages to do this day in and day out even with little or no sleep. I wonder if his family back home is worried about him. Is he ready to face God? He faces death every minute of every day. Do we in America realize how important it is to pray for them? They ARE America. They are our best. Please Lord, send prayer partners adequate to fit the need for prayers for protection and peace for them. Lord, stop the suicides and bring healing and understanding to those who survivie. Give them a revival in the Military and let them sleep at night in peace in Jesus Arms of safety. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.

    Judy Says:

Father, I join with the other voices asking that the weak not only be protected by the troops and police but that this same group of people will live in integrity and refuse to be corrupted. Father, as elections approach in Irag, we already hear rumblings of discord..some being shut out as candidates…a female candidate being killed and “the possibility of civil war.” Father, You know how much blood was shed to free Iraq. You know there are thousands of families whose lives were forever changed because of the sacrifice made by a loved one…You know how many now suffer from wounds — wounds of the spirit and mind, wounds of the body. Please, dear Lord, let peace prevail in Iraq! Thank You Jesus that You hear; You act. Amen.

    Peggy Says:

Father, As the winds blow strong today, I pray the wind blows strong in Baghdad. Let your spirit be upon those who are defending the weak. Let them STAND in this wind but take down the enemy who is not protected by your shield about them. I pray for the soldiers who need your strength, those defending and protecting those who are weak. Father,be with your army. Let the howls of the wind overtake the threats and tricks of the evil ones. Scare them to death with your mighty power. I pray for a clean sweep. Blow all the dirt away, all that is evil. Thank You God for hearing and answering our cries for help for these people. They are choosing sides. There is no fear in perfect love which is YOU, GOD. I pray they call upon you and draw near to you. I pray they run into you, their high tower and defender, protector and lover. Draw them under your wings and keep them safe. AMEN
