Wed- Hold the Peace

(Hold the Peace is a daily campaign of prayer through July 2009, to resist the current surge of violence in Baghdad. Please join us.)

Release Forgiveness

Scripture: O righteous God, who searches minds and hearts, bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure. -Psalms 7:9

Prayer: Lord there is a battle on for the soul of the city and the future of the people. There is no one besides You to help in the battle between the powerful and those who have no strength; so help the people of Baghdad LORD, to prevail against the wicked.

Break the power of revenge, and drive that evil spirit from the city. I stand Lord in the power of forgiveness releasing all who have wronged me, and I extend that grace to a strategic family in Baghdad. Stir within their hearts today an unexplainable grace to forgive, and release the vengeance in their hearts.

Bring together brothers, and sisters, cousins and families, heal the wounds of division in their clan and leave no place for vengeance to dwell. Break the cycle of violence in their history and let this day be a new beginning for them.

Restore their fellowship with one another, and use them Lord to promote peace in their circles of influence. In Jesus name, amen.

Dear Father, I want to pray Hebrews 12:14-15 today: “Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:
15 looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled.”
The people of Baghdad, Iraq, Afghanistan, and the whole Middle East are engulfed in bitterness and revenge because of the lies they’ve been told through Islam. They have no concept of Christ’s love and forgiveness. Please open their eyes and hearts to the truth of the Gospel. No one comes to Jesus unless you draw them, Father. Please do that. There are Christians living in these places who can bring the truth as you set up divine appointments with individuals. We know you’re already working in these nations, and we cheer you on as you glorify the name of Jesus. Thank you for your hand of protection on our troops, and on all those who are preaching Jesus. We ask in His Holy Name. AMEN.

Forgiveness comes from You, Blessed Three in One, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We cry out to You to help all those in Baghdad, Iraq to forgive. Move upon hearts to enable them to “let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger and clamor, and evil speaking be put away form them, with all malice.” Cause all people in Iraq to “be kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God also for Christ’s sake has forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:31-31.

Bring to pass, Father, Your Son’s heart cry to You: “That they may be one; as Thou, Father, art in Me, and I in Thee, that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that Thou hast sent Me.” John 17:21.

We pray for revival to break out among our troops, Lord, and that the fear of the Lord would be sensed by our troops and by native peoples who come into contact with our troops.

Lord of all the earth, we pray that people in Iraq would learn the power of forgiveness. Help them to see the futility of seeking vengeance and the freedom that comes from forgiving. Open their hearts and their minds so they can see how much You have forgiven them and how much you love them. Give them the courage to abandon those things that keep them from you. We ask this in the strong and precious name of Jesus.

  25. 41
    Betsy P. Says:

Lord of the Nations, for You have created all people, You through Your Son have made it possible for us to forgive, because You first forgave us. Your Son, the Prince of Peace, Who said, “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do,” has broken down the middle wall of partition between us. Now, we can have peace with You, Father, peace with each other, and peace within ourselves.

Please flood the land of Iraq, beginning at the city of Baghdad, with your forgiveness and love. Cause all the people there (leaders, civilians, police, soldiers, friends and foes) to be engulfed in Your forgiveness, and to forgive each other and themselves. Let rejoicing break forth as sins are forgiven and reconciliation is established. Be glorified in Iraq today, Lord, In Jesus strong name, amen.
