13-Calling Forth Baghdad’s Destiny

Scripture: “For nothing is impossible with God.” -Luke 1:37

Prayer: Lord, in You we live and move and breathe and have our being. You are a God of wonder and glory, who rules the nations by Your great power. There is nothing beyond Your reach, or out of Your sight. What seems impossible for us, is nothing to You.

baghdad-sunset1.jpgBaghdad needs an impossible solution, and so we come to You because You are God of the impossible. We cast off the vision of what Baghdad has become, and we embrace the vision of what You want Baghdad to be — a city of peace and harmony that will bless the people of Iraq and the Middle East.

We agree with Your desire Lord, and say in faith, “Baghdad come forth out of darkness and into the light of your destiny. Cast off your cloak of violence and fear, and step into the garments of harmony and freedom that will bless your people.”

Lord, release hope and a fresh anticipation into the hearts of the Iraqis: free them from despair and enable them to see the possibilities. We ask that You would pour out a great big dose of the impossible over Baghdad, and usher in a new season for that city and its people. In Jesus name, amen.

I pray for our soldiers and for their safety. Let us not forget, because they changed the name of this war, that we have young men and women who are still in harms way. Give them wisdom for this day in Jesus name.

Lord, you are holy and mighty and you rule over all the affairs of men. You know how to raise up the meek and bring the prideful and evil down. The satanic forces in Iraq want to bring death and destruction and destroy peace in that country and we ask that you intercede and pull down the forces of darkness. Let peace reign. You are the Lion of Judah and the blessed Trinity. Nothing is too hard for you. Your mercy extends to all men if they will only call on you. So we cry out to you for the people of Iraq. We plead for their souls and ask that you give them the chance to receive salvation through Jesus, your Son. I pray in His dear name.

Father, would you give them a weariness of the same ole cycles of violence, heartache, revenge, bitterness, anger, and hatred. Please let them see how unproductive this cycle has been, and may they long for real change. May they understand the seriousness of teh fact that our troops will be dwindling and leaving soon, and may they have great desire to do whatever necessary to defend their homes and families. May they see that as the old ways haven’t worked, they need the new way. May they even desire living water! May they begin calling out to You, Lord! And may they ask You for solutions. Lord, let them put their faith in You and bury the old ways and destructive cycles. Give them hunger and thirst for You, Lord, and reveal truth to them, please! Hve mercy upon them, Lord! May You grant encounters with You , and may many be saved! In Jesus’ Name!

Father God, You know the plans for Baghdad. We are here in faith to live for You and serve You in Your will. Our ways are not Your ways. It’s hard to understand sometimes when things are not going well – like now that violence there is on the increase – how that fits in with Your will. But You weave things together in a way we cannot always see until the end. Our faith stands firm. We love You, Lord! We love You, Jesus! We love You, Holy Spirit! We ask that You would grasp those who are instigating violence and pluck them out before they gain a foothold. Don’t let the good people there get discouraged but the rise in violence. Give them strength and courage to forgive and rise up against the evil, yet not retaliate. Teach the children ways of peace. Let them hear stories of You. Let them believe in You. Protect our sweet soldiers, our troops, Lord. Though the arrows fly, let them walk by in safety. I so pray, Father, in the holy name of Your Son, Jesus, and wait in joyful anticipation for You always answer Your people. Amen.

Our very souls cry out the You, the One True and Risen King! For we place our trust in a God we can’t see, but we are more the blessed for it! We are blessed because we chosen to believe with our hearts and not by sight. For it is good for us the place our trust in the Giver of Life!
We’re asking that You do the impossible today. Things are only impossible if ye believe not. For we have to know that Jesus is Lord and King!
Rearrange all the confusion and strife in this nation. Put in it’s place Peace, Love, Compassion and Comfort! If they will turn from their wicked ways and believe in the Lord Our God, all they ask for will be given unto them in abundants, not lacking until it runnth over!

May all praise, honor and glory be given to You, Dear Lord God Most High! May Your fame be known in all the earth. Thank You for prayers answered, and for prayers You will answer. May Your people in Iraq be encouraged to look up to You in hope and in confidence, and emboldened to step out in Your Name, working what is righteous and good in that nation. It is so good to remember that You are God and that as individuals put aside their sins and put their trust in You great and wonderful things start to happen. May we soon hear more of the good things You will do in Iraq and of the good You have been doing, and may Your people be encouraged today. I especially want to pray for those believers who have suffered persecution at the hands of those who thought eliminating Your people from the land would be a means of bringing about their desires or that nation. May Your people who have suffered in this way in Iraq be especially encouraged to put their confidence in You, knowing that whatever happens, and whatever has happened, they are in Your good and loving hands. In Jesus’ Precious and Holy Name. Amen.
