Scripture: “Confuse the wicked, O Lord, confound their speech, for I see violence and strife in the city. Day and night they prowl about on its walls; malice and abuse are within it. Destructive forces are at work in the city; threats and lies never leave its streets.” -Psalm 55:9-11
Prayer: Lord, You are God over all the earth. You are God of the past, present, and future. You see all the wickedness and the good, and nothing is hidden from Your sight. There is no One like You who wields the power of eternity.
God of Peace, Baghdad has been hijacked by a spirit of violence, and I want to agree right now with those who would say, “Give it back!” Your heart for Baghdad is one of righteousness and peace. And You said if we agree on asking You for anything in Jesus name, that we could have it. Lord, with all my brothers and sisters praying this prayer today, I am asking You to break this stronghold of violence over the city of Baghdad and its people. Honor Your word, Lord, and strip Baghdad from the hands of the violent and give it to those who love peace.
I ask that today would be a day of confusion in the camp of the wicked. Confound their speech Lord, and cause them to stumble as they seek to promote strife and violence. Expose their lies and render them powerless to carry out their threats. In Jesus name, amen.
